Welcome aboard the REEL BUSY and to our Stuart Florida Fishing Report. The winds of March continued to blow right on through the month of April creating sporty seas and inconsistent fishing. We’ve had a good dolphin bite on most days catching 6 or 7 dolphin up to 20 pounds with a sailfish or tuna in the mix. We’ve also had days it seemed like the dolphin we’re an extinct creature and more elusive than a mermaid.
May is consistently the best month of the year for Stuart Florida Dolphin Fishing and as the wind and seas settle down this week it should be game on. We haven’t had many peanut dolphin the last couple of weeks and most of the dolphin have been 6 to 8 pounds. We’ve caught a few 15 to 25 pound dolphin already this year and we plan to catch a few 30 to 50 pound trophy dolphin again this year.
Sailfish are more known for the winter bite off the coast of Stuart Florida but the sailfish have been more abundant during the spring and summer months the last two years and it looks like more of the same this year. We’ve been having one or two sailfish encounters on most of our fishing charters the last couple of weeks. The warmers waters of the spring and summer months create a faster and more aggressive sailfish bite which is always an awesome sight to see. They fire into the spread like their ass is on fire and tear it up, you gotta love it.
The Stuart Florida Tuna Fishing is off to a slow start. The black fin tuna that are usually stacked up on a ridge about 10 miles offshore haven’t shown up in numbers yet. We’ve been catching a few and some as big as 20 pounds but it’s been hit and miss. The black fin tuna will fire up any day now as the sea conditions settle down a bit.
The east side tuna trips are producing yellow fin tuna, black fin tuna and big dolphin. Yellow fins from 35 to 85 pounds, black fin tuna from 15 to 25 pounds and dolphin from 15 to 45 pounds can be expected. Call Capt. Wayne for an east side tuna trip off the corner of the Bahama Bank or for 2 and 3 day Bahamas Fishing Adventures catching Tuna, Marlin, Dolphin, Snapper and Grouper.
